Thursday was a big day for basketball lovers around the Europe. Spanish giants Real Madrid came to Lithuania‘s second biggest town Kaunas to compete with legendary team Žalgiris. Bunch of Vilnius University ERASMUS students also went there to enjoy the spectacular match in the very new Žalgiris arena, where emotions were almost unbearable and atmosphere truly spectacular.
Before the match Lithuanian basketball hero Šarūnas Jasikevičius were awarded with Euroleague legend prize, which means that on this day he entered the Hall of Fame of the most prestigious basketball championship in Europe. First two quarters of the game were thrilling and ended in draw, with both teams scoring point-to-point, however the second part left Lithuanians speechless, this time Real Madrid proved to be stronger.
Nevertheless, ERASMUS students and their mentors had a blast – what can be better than visiting Kaunas and enjoying a quality basketball match with people from all corners of Europe! Everyone had something to say after the match from their perspective, so the whole ride home to Vilnius was a one non-stop cheerful discussion!
