Lithuanian Red Cross Society (LRCS) was established in 1919 January 12 with the effort of Rokas Šliūpas and other medics. In Lithuanian Red Cross activities a significant role also played majority of wellknowen Lithuanian doctors, the workers of health care. LRCS established hospitals in Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Klaipėda and in other cities.
Lithuanian Red Cross Society is a part of the International Red Cross and Red Crecent Federation, with its headquarters in Geneva. LRCS is entitled to prevent the suffer of human beings or to ease it. Lithuanian Red Cross Youth is a part LRCS and it unites young people willing to help for others. LRCS Youth members takes care of urphans, neglected people, seniors. They propogate healthy life stile, adress the issues of AIDS, drug adiction, children rights. Moreover, they learn to provide first aid and later provide the training for other youngsters.
Lithuanian Red Cross Society unites more than 2825 members, and 821 of them are the members of LRCS Youth, we also have aprroximately 1248 volunteers.
